'Fun Raising' Night - £3,500 raised

Friday 3rd March 2017 was the first major fund raising venture by Nathan's Committee.

The evening organised mainly by Melinda Fretter (Nathan's Aunt) was, without doubt, a great success. On the night over 120 people attended. It was held at the Goring Conservative Club who very kindly let us use their Function Room, at no cost.

The quality and quantity of the Auction items and the Raffle prizes was truly exceptional. The auction items which attracted the highest bids were:

  • ‘VIP Day with the Red Arrows’.
  • Signed shirts from both the Brighton and Hove Albion and Bournemouth football clubs.
  • Football signed by the whole Arsenal team.
  • A signed Tottenham Hotspur FC pennant.
  • Brighton Hove Albion v Derby 1901 club tickets.

A major event during the auction was Nathan taking the gavel and selling a signed photograph of himself, on several occasions he told people what to bid before they even put their hand up!

The rest of the auction was carried out expertly by Louise and Paul Westbrook of Worthing General Auctions who deserve our sincere thanks for their efforts.

The evening also included a quiz (questions provided by Kay and Dan) and a silver(ish) Cup provided free of charge by A M Trophies of Worthing, filled with goldish (chocolate) coins was awarded to the winners.

Although all the Committee worked really hard, special mention should be given to Josh (Nathan's brother) who not only provided the background music but was kept busy helping out wherever help was needed. The evening itself raised well in excess of £3,500 pounds, and gave us a huge leap forward in our endeavour to help this young man to achieve his ambitions.

Lastly, but by no means least, we must thank all the Auction Lot donors who gave so generously. A huge thank you also to many local businesses who donated generous raffle prizes including Nonna's Kitchen, Broadwater Sports, Sawyers, Part Hot Tubs, Cucinetta, Frankie West and many, many more. And finally a massive thank you to all those who attended and made the night such a success.
